Prayers for a friend

Impractical Dreaming

25 Feb Prayers for a friend

Yesterday my friend, KJM, set off to India. She is going to work with women and children who have been involved in sex trafficking. I meant to text her yesterday morning before I knew her plane took off, but I got busy and then I was driving and then I was at work. Needless to say I thought about her all day long. Wondering how she was feeling, if she was excited, scared, nervous, elated, all of the above? But I could not ask her these things anymore.

Last night when I was driving to teach the sun was setting, KJM and I share a love for the sky. There was the perfect amount of sun brilliance and clouds. I think a sunset without clouds is like a movie with no candy…you must have both to fully appreciate the experience. So last night the sky was not red at all, but instead a perfect shade of orange-gold. For some reason this sky and sunset felt like an acknowledgment of KJM. It was as if God said, “You see, Emily, I am going to do some incredible things through K this weekend. She is going to be used and filled just perfectly by Me. I am going to take her through experiences she’ll never forget. And I am going to touch lives and she will be my vessel. Do not fear for her, she has all the love, protection, courage, and support she needs right here.”

So I smiled and said, “Ok, thank you!”

Then as I laid down in bed I found a little piece of happy from KJM, a blog post about her excitement and security for the week to come. Ah…peace.

So I will leave you with this…a few passages from one of my favorite books in the bible. Please pray for K this week — that everything goes according to God’s plan, that K may touch and be touched through the lives she meets this week, and that God’s love heals many wounds.

“For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. “
Ephesians 1: 15-23
