Nutter Butter Banana Pudding Trifle

12 Jul Nutter Butter Banana Pudding Trifle

I made homemade pudding. I’m kind of a big deal.

Friday night I finally attempted a recipe that I had my eye on for over a year.

I spotted this recipe in a Southern Living magazine a couple of years ago.

In fact, I think it wasn’t even my own magazine…I rushed home to find it online.
Banana pudding with Nutter Butters instead of Vanilla Wafers!!? …My heart sings.
Banana pudding is a prized southern tradition. To mess it up…is something not to be taken lightly.
With that being said…I have tasted a lot of banana pudding in my life and the funny this is that often time people like to cheat. Instead of real, homemade pudding, people opt for the easier, more yellow option of pudding from a box.
Friday I embraced the challenge. As my liquid moisture began to stiffen in it’s pot, the kitchen was filled with shouts of “I made pudding! Look! It’s pudding!”

And pudding it was. And it was rather tasty…much better than it’s evil twin from a box.

When I went back to find the Southern Living recipe I could not track it down, but I did find this recipe that worked like a charm.

I ended up not using the whole package of nutter butters, but I highly suggest that you do. It needed the rest of the package. And if you find yourself with large bananas instead of medium-sized ones…reduce it to four.
Chill and Enjoy!
