Happy face…

30 Apr Happy face…

As I stare at my blank computer screen, I barely know what to do with myself. I have no paper looming over my head, no tests I need to be studying for, and the book lying next to me has not been prescribed to me by a professor. Could this be it? Could this be the state of zero pressure? Could this be liberation? …I think it might just be.
I have made several promises on here the past couple of weeks that I certainly have all intentions of keeping…namely, posting the recipe for the so delicious Orange-Almond Cake prepared last weekend.
Never complete without the orange peel.
The more I bake cakes, the more I think I should invest more money here.
Also, I have to update you on how my Salted Caramel Brownies came out (also, from here.) Ok, if you must know…these brownies were quite the adventure. Had I known what to expect I would have been perfectly pleased. Because I didn’t though, there was a small window of time where I worried they were a mess. However, they were a success. I used this combination of recipes and they were rich and perfectly yummy. After a delightful night of food and wine I did forget to take the brownies out early so they weren’t quite as gooey. The caramel became harder than expected, but still turned out so yummy. Next time, I am definitely going for the fudgey and gooey texture though. :)
Thank you Olivia-Rae…they were simply superb!
With that being said…updates on dinner from last week and the recipe coming soon.
————————————————————————–
For now…I would like to ask you to join me in celebrating the fact that I have completed a full two semesters of graduate school!
After a week filled with late nights…sleep deprivation hangovers…and energy drink delirium, I am happy to tell you I had a beautiful night with friends last night, I slept in this morning and then spent thirty minutes lying in bed reading blogs. If that’s not blissful then I don’t know what is.
Now it’s time to go celebrate the births of both my precious, little sister…
(the one on the left…it was her 21st bday on Wednesday, but only the family dinner photos will be shared on blog world đŸ˜‰ you know — because we all have a 21st birthday, you probably know what it was like anyways.)
My sister and the boy’s mother happen to share the 27th as their day of birth and so tonight I am being spoiled out of my mind. Two weekends in a row the boy is cooking! For his mom’s bday he is treating her to dinner! There are few things that make me happier than being in the kitchen, sipping wine, listening to inspiring tunes (my latest obsession; the song is better without the video, just sayin’), and watching my man do his thing. He is so good at it. Last week’s dish…
Are you drooling yet?
Whether you are or not, I am…so I’m off to find out what is on tonight’s menu! I will leave you with this little gem from last night…
A sneak peak…it was a night for happiness. And that is exactly what it was.
I have a feeling it is a weekend for happiness.
