Dependence…part two

Impractical Dreaming

17 Feb Dependence…part two

The question: Why ever reach for control?
…when it is so clearly out of reach.
…when it is severely elusive.
…when the One who actually holds control does such a great job?

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
{Romans 8:28}

My only answer to the question above is…we  I forget so easily.

I forget his faithfulness….“God is faithful.” {1 Corinthians 1:9}

I forget who I am…”But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.” {1 Corinthians 6:17}

I forget Who is always with me…”No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.” {1 John 4:12}

But mostly I just tend to focus on what [issue] is right in front of me and forget who He is…

I forget that He is mind-blowing compared to any earthly goodness I know.

He who says…

You may not know me, but I know everything about you. {Psalm 139:1}
Even the very hairs on your head are numbered {Matt. 10:29-31
You were made in my image. {Gen. 1:27}
In me you live and move and have your being. {Acts 17:28}
You are my offspring. {Acts 17:28}
You were not a mistake, for all your days are written in my book. {Psalm 129:15-16}
I am not distant and angry, but am the complete expression of love. {1 John 4:16}
And it is my desire to lavish my love on you. {1 John 3:1}
Simply because you are my child and I am your Father. {1 John 3:1}
Every good gift that you receive comes from my hand. {James 1:7}
For I am your provider and I meet all your needs. {Matt. 6:31-33}
My plan for your future has always been filled with hope. {Jeremiah 31:3}
For you  are my treasured possession. {Exodus 19:5}
And I rejoice over you with singing. {Zephaniah 3:17}
I will never stop doing good for you. {Jeremiah 32:40}
And I want to show you great and marvelous things. {Jeremiah 33:3}
I am able to do more than you could possibly imagine. {Ephesians 3:20}
For I am your greatest encourager. {2 Thess. 2:16-17}
I am also the Father who comforts you in all your troubles. {2 Cor. 1:3-4}
When you are brokenhearted, I am close to you. {Psalm 34:18}
One day I will wipe away every tear from your eyes. {Revelation 21:3-4}
I am your Father, and I love you even as I love my son, Jesus. {John 17:23}
He [Jesus] came to demonstrate that I am for you, not against you. {Romans 8:31}
And to tell you that I am not counting your sins. {2 Cor. 5:18-19}
his death was the ultimate expression of my love for you. {1 John 4:10}
I gave up everything that I might gain your love. {Romans 8:31-32}
And nothing will ever separate you from my love again. {Romans 8:38-39}
I have always been Father and will always be Father. {Ephesians 3:14-15}
I am waiting for you. {Luke 15:11-32}
If your father and mother forsake you, I will take you up… {Psalms 27:10}
You are loved…{John 3:16}
You are forgiven…{Acts 10:43}
You are precious…Luke 12:24
You are beautiful…{Isaiah 61:3}
You are mine…{1 Chronicles 29:11}*
Somehow or another…I can actually forget…I can lose sight of truth
How it is possible? …that part I really can’t explain, except to say that I am a dense, selfish, and prideful little child who sometimes (often) believes (deludes myself to believing) that I am capable…
…which I am not alone.
It began with Exodus…and there it shall end…
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
{Exodus 14:14}
That’s it…dependence = rest.
Rest = dependence = inexplicable joy.
Oh, that we I may remember every day…
…He’s got the whole world in His hands…
