It’s a beautiful day in Seattle. It’s sunny (high of 76 degrees) with a lovely breeze. [Mr. Weather has been working his A-game since I arrived charming me over quite nicely.]
We woke early{ish} to go partake in a yoga class with one of Dawn’s friends she has known for over 20 years. Her name is Denise and her class was intensely delightful. We left feeling ridiculously yummy and walked 20 feet to a local juice shop. {nom nom nom nom nom}
She took me on a quick toward through downtown–Seattle University and Pike Place Market. Do not fear. I promise I will be returning for a full day trip to the market with more pictures than you care to see. For today though, it was packed…and my senses are already on overload. No need to test my emotional capacity by stranding me in the middle of a people infested market. I enjoyed hearing the cheers of the fish toss and the artisan displays from the car though. More time for that later.
We returned home for a nice meal outside in the amazeballs weather. {Did I mention that the weather has been amazing!? Seriously…even when gray…still amazing.}
I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and emotional today. I am not drowning in it, just acknowledging that it’s there. Dawn and I have hit it off quite well and, of course, we have shared pieces of our stories. As to be expected…my still brings pain.
I knew this was to be a healing journey. I suspected that this trip would be simultaneously the best, most beautiful, and awesome trip that I have ever been on as well as extraordinarily painful and challenging as I face myself and many of the emotions I have procrastinated acknowledging fully up until this point.
I do not intend on it being any different. Emotions must be faced. My story must continue on. The band-aids that busy schedules, graduate school, a life led to serve others dealing way too close to my personal, home issues, and fear must be removed. Pour on the hydrogen peroxide, clean out the bacteria. It’s time to heal cleanly and beautifully.

The holiday weekend is almost over. My yoga journey officially begins tomorrow. I’m off to cook some fresh salmon on the grill, roast kale, and yams…and enjoy a side of fresh fruit. Then I’m off to bed. My soul needs rest.
Cheers to a marvelous and inspiring Monday.
