27 Feb Once Upon A Friday Night…
Last night J and I were finally able to celebrate Vday the correct way…That’s right we gently and kindly kicked out the ‘rents and started cooking. Per usual J was in charge of dinner, me-desserts. Turns out J was actually planning on doing the whole sha-bang, but his father requested cupcakes from the (*ahem*) ‘cupcake queen’ đŸ˜‰ a few weeks ago. Chocolate with butter cream icing to be exact. Since the occasion (and time) arrived for me to be able to bake I took the opportunity to bake. The savory and sweet aromas did not mesh so well in the air…however, they did the tummy well.
The menu: (For full details you’d have to get the boy to tell you all his secrets. I asked…”Hey…where’s the recipe? Do you have one?” …J: “I read one…earlier.” He’s a great cook.)
Arugula salad with a buttery, shallot, and garlic dressing
(It’s embarrassing that I’m not 100% sure that is actually what was in it…but all you really need to know is dressing=homemade and delicious.)
Toasted french bread (with butter, of course)
and the main attraction…
Whole wheat penne pasta with spicy sausage
Yum yum yum yum yum…mmmmy
It tasted better than it looks…if you can believe it
So in the spirit of being incredibly cheesy and absolutely obnoxious I just finished watching When Harry Met Sally and Harry Burns is the sayer of one of my favorite quotes…so enjoy all the sappy glory that is this lovely quote…
