14 Jun i {heart} life.
This morning I taught a Zumba class filled with 60 women…I haven’t seen numbers like those since I graduated from UGA two years ago. As the room filled, my heart begin to pound at the excitement and anxiety that accompanies “shaking it” (‘it’ being my bum) in front of that many other people.
I pride myself on believing it’s not something that just anyone can do. That helps me believe that since I’ve done it so many times…I can do it again. (Whether it’s really true or not.) As I began to chatter and then pump the music I caught a glimpse of a girl in the very back. Her shirt was one of those “I {heart}” shirts, but instead of “hearting” NYC or Paris…her said “I {heart} life.”
My mind was made up at that moment. It was going to be a great class…and it was. There wasn’t a dry seat in the room by the time Corrine Bailey Rae finished telling my to ‘put my records on,’ which, by the way, happens to be my current favorite summertime cool down song.
It was the perfect closing to a wonderful weekend and great beginning to a week that needed a good weekend in order for me to make it through. Did you get all of that? (I last minute decided to teach swimming lessons this week…so in addition to my normal crazy week…add three private swimming lessons to the end of that. Eesh. I {heart} life though…and a good challenge so bring on the crazies.)
This weekend really was one for the books.
It started like this…at Sip, which is now one of my favorite places to go. To eat. To sip. To drink. To relax. I think I’m in love. And it also is an added bonus that it’s in one of my favorite parts of town.
Sweet Corn Fritters with Spicy Cucumber Relish |
Grilled Marinated Shrimp & Andouille over Charleston Style Grits and Herbed Cream…And let me just say… if this is any taste of Charleston, I’m moving. |
Truffle Papa Fritas |
Twice fried potatoes tossed in herbs and white truffle oil…served with spicy housemade ketchup |
Marinated Hanger Steak…with Roasted Asparagus and Chimichuri |
Crème Brûlée…need I say more? |
Perfection.
And yes…it is a very good thing that I had that Zumba class this morning.
