Sundays

27 Jun Sundays

 Sundays are my absolute favorite day of the week.
Every Sunday for me, starts off with a bunch of silly, loving, and playful four-year-olds. We sing. We dance. We pray. We play. We wrestle. We color. And we usually eat fun snacks too (yes, I might quite possibly still be 4 years old at heart).
Then I get to hear some brilliant speaker who has taken a tiny piece of the bible and transformed it into something that carries the weight, impact, and applicable message scripture should. And I get to listen while holding the boy’s hand, which always makes it even better.
Usually, later there is lunch that includes some sort of delicious, overdose on carbs that leads us crawling for a sofa or bed to take an afternoon nap.
Yesterday was different though, because I was supposed to be studying.
Instead of lunch out we opted for grilled dogs with his ‘rents…and a peaceful afternoon of baking (and studying, of course…sort of).
Yes, not only is the boy a divine chef…but he makes a mean apple pie too.
Why yes we did eat ball park style hot dogs…with a sophisticated Spinach & Strawberry Salad with homemade Poppy-seed dressing, that’s not strange.
 Instead of napping…we baked. Okay, the truth is…he baked and I attempted to study….and may or may not have stolen a quick cat nap…a nap to which I was awoken by the singing of “I believe I can fly”…by a boy still working on a pie crust.
Yes. Bliss, indeed.
What more could a girl ask for out of a Sunday?
(Minus the part where H had to be given a bath because he insists on believing it’s a perfectly acceptable idea to play in horse poop. Crazy dog.)
Seriously…I haven’t had the boy’s apple pie since high school and I remember it being good, but not like this. The flaky crust matched perfectly with a gooey (but not oozy) filling. Bursts of apple, cinnamon, and nutmeg never tasted so good. My head was off balance when I was finished. It was overwhelmingly delicious.
And then there were Extraordinary Chocolate Chip Cookies…
“Each one of you is part of the body of Christ, and you were chosen to live together in peace. So let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts. And be grateful.” {Colossians 3:15}
 I am so grateful. For many reasons. So many.
Happy Monday…xxxoo
[ I’m off to study for my test that is in…oh, 3 1/2 hours…wish me luck! đŸ˜‰ ]
